On April 10, 1912, the RMS Titanic set sail from Southampton, England, en route to New York on her maiden voyage. In that day she was the largest and most luxurious passenger ship in the world. She was equipped with so many safety features that she was thought to be unsinkable, yet we all know what happened. Late in the night on April 14th, the ship's first officer gave the order to turn the ship to avoid hitting a large iceberg.
